Janata Shikshan Samiti
Originally it was an intermediate college but later on the Science wing was added in 1949. In the year 1952, it was taken over by the late Sri. R.S. Hukkerikar, a veteran freedom fighter, social worker and educationist. The JSS grew from strength to strength and various institutions were started to cater to the educational requirements of the people. Later His Holiness Swamiji of Pejavar mutt, Udupi, requested Pujya Shri. Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari, Srikshetra Dharmasthala to takeover the reins of the Samiti. There onwards, Prof. N. Vajrakumar was entrusted the task of developing the JSS group of institutions. Under his stewardship, the JSS flowered, flourished and fostered new centers of learning.
Today, the JSS stands tall atop the Mailarlinga hill, 2511 ft. above sea level, along the Pune-Bangalore highway. The JSS Campus is a sprawling one with idyllic surrounding enveloping an area of 50 acres.
The JSS has its own intellectual as well as infrastructural resources which are utilized for the developmental activities of the region.
The management has sufficient academic and administrative expertise as it is running a chain of educational institutions.
